Exercise Addiction is rarely talked about and goes undetected in a number of different environments, be this elite sport to your day to day gym goer. Having a little understanding as a parent, friend or a Coach will enable you to be there for somebody heading into a crisis and spotting the signs and symptoms before they hit a total burn out. It is so important to be aware of these potentially life changing issues as it can manifest in either a primary addiction, or can be secondary to an eating disorder and/or body dysmorphia.
Many people believe that training non stop will deliver on so many benefits. This maybe from a perception of increased strength and performance to the body they have always dreamed about.
The truth is, overtraining with inadequate recovery time will reap havoc on your body, eventually resulting in a total burnout. Having those extra few days off can make all the difference, that goes for everybody!!
